History

Thousands of years before Europeans arrived, a large portion of south-east Florida, including the area where Miami, Florida exists today, was inhabited by Tequestas. Miami is named after the Mayaimi, a Native American tribe that lived around Lake Okeechobee until the 17th or 18th century. Miami prospered during the 1920s but weakened when the real-estate bubble burst in 1925, which was shortly followed by the 1926 Miami Hurricane and the Great Depression in the 1930s. After Fidel Castro rose to power in 1959, many Cubans emigrated to Miami, further increasing the population. Cubans established Cuban cigar factories in Florida, and the reason Cubans immigrated to the U.S was to escape from communism and Fidel Castro. Miami, still a predominantly Latino city, have had drastically leveraged the number of Cubans in a decade to a huge figure back in the 19th century.

Present Day

Miami is a major centre and leader in commerce, finance, culture, arts and international trade. The city was classified as a Beta + level global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC). Some unforgettable places for a great shopping experience in Miami are Bayside Marketplace, Brickell City Centre, The Shops at Midtown Miami, Miracle Marketplace, Mall of the Americas, Central Shopping Plaza, Ultramount Mall, The Grand Retail Plaza, Miami Merchandise Mall and many more. Sweet Liberty and The Anderson serve a hankering second dinner at midnight or early 5 AM. The nights at Miami are never cooling off. The day’s post vibes are never leaving and sticks around for the after-party, the nights are what make it Miami.

Future

Miami is the “Most Vulnerable” Coastal City named Worldwide. Ignoring sea level rise and intensifying flooding, Miami has continued to build luxury real estate near the water at a rapid pace. But as developers eye higher ground, communities of colour will likely bear the heaviest burden from the changes wrought by climate change. The impacts of these intensifying climatic changes — which also include the growing threat of monster hurricanes — will not be felt equally. Unlike the jet-set owners of high-end real estate in Miami-Dade, the region’s middle-class residents — who have most of their savings tied up in their homes — face the prospect of generations of wealth being wiped out when the property market inevitably craters in the face of rising seas.
Must Visit Places ------------

The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach

The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, a free, outdoor cairn that was housed in 1984 in memory and to honour the lost ones during the holocaust. The view is described to have erected with a striking sculpture of Love and Anguish by Kenneth Treister in the original. The sunset light reflecting against the pond exploring the grounds is complete worthy sight.
