History

Bangalore was previously situated around a mud fort, built by local chief, Kempe Gowda in the year 1537. Since its foundation, in 1761 it was recreated by using stones and under the British rule it was the headquarters of the British administration for 50 years, from 1831 to 1881. During early 90s, there was an emergence of strong education system and new national economic policies, which resultant development of big information and communication technology sector. Shivanasamudram Dam is Asia’s first hydroelectric power station. It was first proposed around 120 year back in 1902 by then king of Mysore. It is situated on bank of River Kaveri.

Present Day

Bangalore is also educational hub for student who are looking to pursue a career in Engineering. It has the most number of engineering colleges. Bangalore University has around 57 affiliated engineering colleges while there are 21 engineering colleges within city limits. Lal Bagh Botanical Garden

One of the oldest botanical garden located in Southern part of Bangalore. The garden is surrounded over 240 acres. Started in the reign of famous ruler Hyder ali. Later finished by his son Tipu Sultan. Garden is full of exotic flowers imported from France, Persia, Arabia by Tipu Sultan which comes to result in gorgeous flora and fauna. Point of interest is the Lalbagh Rock viz. said to 3000 years old rock, considered as oldest rock in world by Guinness record of book. Located at the middle of Garden. Bangalore Palace

It was constructed by the supervision of John Cameron. Construction of the palace started in year 1874 and completed in 1878. It was constructed for the purpose of providing a suitable place for the young maharaja to stay in Bangalore and complete his administrative training. Palace architecture based on the Tudor revival style. Total floor area is 45000 Sq ft and spread over 454 acres. M.G. Road

It is one of the busiest road in Bangalore, M G Road also known as Mahatma Gandhi Road. It is the hub of recreational and commercial activity in city. Cubbon Park

One of the major tourist attraction spot in Bangalore. Spread over an area of 300 acres. Named in the honor of Lord Cubbon. The park is about 100 meter away from metro station.
