Early Life

Yuvraj was born on 12 December 1981, son of Indian former, fast bowler and an Punjabi actor, Yuvraj Singh. He studied at the DAV Public School in Chandigarh. Earned a graduation degree in Commerce from the same College University. He loved to play Tennis and won a National Under-14 Roller Skating Championship. His father asked him to get rid of skating and used to carry him for cricket training everyday. Yuvraj started his cardinal journey of cricket with the Punjab Under-16s at the beginning of his 14th birthday. He was promoted to the Under-19s and scored his first ever century in the game against the Himachal Pradesh Under-19s.

Road to Success

In 1997, he made his first-class debut at the Ranji Trophy against Orissa, outcoming the performance to none in opening the innings. The newcomer represented India against the Sri Lanka Under-19s series in 1999, making a total of 89 runs in the third ODI (One Day international). At the beginning of the new century, he soon earned a call from the national squad succeeding to title India as the champions of the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, awarding Yuvraj with the Player of the Tournament. In the same year, he got an international breakthrough against Kenya in the pre-quarterfinal at the 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy, backing with his stunning Under-19s performance.

Challenges

Yorkshire County Cricket Club in the same year, he was signed-up for the country season only after the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar entered the roster. The batsman tended to not have a good form throughout the past season. He regained the form in early-2004 for the upcoming series and matches. Indian fans got a chance to cheer Yuvraj as the champion cricketer played his first match after recovering from cancer.

Failures

Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement in June 2019. Yuvraj who failed tp clear the yo-yo test after the West Indies tour, was dropped for Sri Lanka series. Yuvraj was even offered a farewell game by BCCI after he failed to clear the yo-yo test again but the veteran all-rounder denied the offer. Yuvraj said, "I would like tell that I am failing. I still failed a last three fitness test but he passed the fitness test after three attempts. I am not afraid of failure. I have gone through ups and downs. I have seen defeat and that's what's the pillar of success. The 36 year old all rounder , who played a pivotal role in India's World Cup triumph, has been struggling to keep place in the side for some time now.
