Steve John Carell, also known best for his portrayal of Michael Scott as the boss on the NBC sitcom The Office. From 2005-2013, he was the occasional producer, director and writer of the comedy series too. The Life magazine made him people-recognized as “American funniest Man”. In films and television character roles, he earned quite a plenty of accolades. He was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor and won it under the category of Television Series Musical or Comedy for his hilarious work delivered on The Office. He was recognized as "America's Funniest Man" by Life magazine.

Early Life

Steve Carell was born in Concord, Massachusetts at the Emerson Hospital. He is the youngest of his four sibling brothers, and got raised in the same state in a nearby place to his native, Acton. His patronym was originally Caroselli, and was changed to Carell in the 50s. Edwin A. Carell, his father is of Italian descent was an electrical engineer and Harriet Theresa, his mother is of Polish descent was a psychiatric nurse. Carell was made to pursue education at Nashoba Brooks School, Middlesex School, and The Fenn School and was raised Roman Catholic. He started playing fife, also performed at many events with his family. And later joined a group of reenacting portraying the 10th Regiment of Foot. In 1984, he earned a degree in the subject of history from the Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he joined a student-run improvisational comedy troupe, Burpee’s Seedy Theatrical Company. Also, he goal kept on the school’s Big Red hockey team for four years. Steve Carell had worked as a USPS mail carrier in Littleton, Massachusetts, but the boss made him quit the job after seven months, asking Carell to be much faster at work. Early in his acting career, he performed in a touring children’s theater company onstage, later in Knat Scatt Private Eye, a comedy musical, and as well in a television commercial for Brown’s Chicken, the restaurant chain back in 1989.

Road to Success

Carell made his debut in films with accepting a minor role in Curly Sue. Followingly he was a cast member of The Dana Carvey Show, a short-lived sketchy program on ABC. He also voiced Gary in the half of The Ambiguously Gay Duo, with his fellow cast member Stephen Colbert. The program went into production for only seven episodes casting on Saturday Night Live. Carell, in 2005 signed to star in the remake of the British TV series with the same name under NBC. Michael Scott, an aberrant regional manager of Dunder Mifflin, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The very first season suffered mediocre ratings, anyways NBC made it to production for another season due to forecasted success of Carell’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and subsequently the series turned to a ratings success. For his part, he bagged the Television Critics Association Award and won a Golden Globe Award in 2006. The 2006-2011 nominations included Carell for Primetime Emmy Awards. On April 28, 2011, the last episode as the main character, “Goodbye, Michael,” got aired with Carell’s final shot concluding with a 7-seasons streak. However he was invited back for the shoot of the final season in 2013, where ultimately he reprised the role in brief.

Challenges

Shortly before he moved to Chicago and performed with The Second City, Carell worked as a postal carrier in the tiny town of Littleton, Massachusetts. Because the post office didn’t have its own mail vehicles, Carell had to use his own car. He kept the gig for just four months, then took off for the Windy City. “And months later, I found mail under the seat of my car,” he admitted. Carell also said it was the hardest job he has ever had. According to sound mixer Brian Wittle and hairstylist Kim Ferry, Steve spilled during a BBC interview that he might leave after season 7 because the final year of his contract was looming. Even still, Brian explained that, behind the scenes, he hadn't made a definitive decision yet. But when NBC executives didn't make a valiant effort to get Steve to stay after his comments surfaced and made headlines, he was pushed to exit.

Failures

Steve Carell faced early struggle and failures in earning critics owing to the viewers and audience. His debut film, "Curly Sue” had a small role for him. It totally earned a critical score of 13%. Also in 2004, he had a supporting role in “Sleepover”, earning a 15% critic score. Couple of more movies struggled to seek viewers attention, 23% and 25% were rated for “Evan Almighty”(2007) and “Bewitched”(2005) respectively. In 1995, the same year they married, both Carell and Walls auditioned for Saturday Night Live. Walls made it but Carell didn’t. But it all turned out well in the end; Carell went on to become a household name and has hosted the show on two occasions.
